Biography Mohamad Hussein, professional singer of the popular song of the 1980's MARIAM MARIAMTI and bozuk player, is one of a very few musicians to play this instrument in the Middle East. Known as the SULTAN OF BOZUK, Mohamad composes and performs many of his own original songs.
He has released, so far, 4 Arabic and 5 Kurdish CD's. Among some of his most popular Kurdish songs being sung today at Kurdish weddings and parties in Aleppo are, DEL KAVEREH, BOUKEH, LA BAKA DASMALEH, RABA ISHAMEN and GOVANDEE. In addition, he also remakes many classic Middle Eastern songs with a modern upbeat rhythm and recently released A CONCERT IN AMERICA, which includes several Arabic folklore favorites.
Mohamad Hussein, born in Aleppo, Syria, began his musical journey at the age of 14 when his father brought home a bozuk for him to learn to play. His professional career started at the age of 17, when he began to perform at weddings and private parties, singing both Arabic and Kurdish. Since then, he has performed worldwide including Greece, Lebanon, Cypress, Germany, Paris, Moscow, London, Canada, Italy and finally, in the United States, where he is now residing in Detroit, MI. |
